Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the StubVision website, web application, and related services (collectively, the “Service”) operated by StubVision LLC (“StubVision,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Use of the Service

1.1 Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age and capable of forming a binding legal contract to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.

1.2 Account Registration

To access certain features you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep that information up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@stubvision.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

1.3 Permitted Use

The Service is provided for your personal, non-commercial use to analyze paystub data and generate income projections. You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any portion of the Service.
Upload files containing malware, viruses, or other harmful code.
Use automated tools, scripts, or bots to access or scrape the Service without prior written consent.
Resell, sublicense, or otherwise make the Service available to third parties for commercial purposes.

2. Subscription Plans and Billing

2.1 Free Plan

We offer a free tier with limited features as described on our pricing page. The free plan is provided as-is, and we reserve the right to modify or discontinue free tier features at any time with reasonable notice.

2.2 Pro Plan

Paid subscriptions (“Pro Plan”) are offered on a monthly or annual basis. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis at the then-current rate until you cancel. All fees are stated in U.S. dollars and are exclusive of any applicable taxes, which remain your responsibility.

2.3 Billing and Payment

Payments are processed through Stripe, Inc., a third-party payment processor. By providing payment information, you authorize Stripe to store and charge your payment method in accordance with your selected plan. We do not store your full credit card number. Please review Stripe’s privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy for details on how your payment data is handled.

2.4 Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time through the billing settings in your account or through the Stripe Customer Portal. Upon cancellation, your Pro access will continue until the end of the current billing period. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods except where required by applicable law. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us at hello@stubvision.com within 30 days of the charge.

2.5 Plan Changes and Price Updates

We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. We will provide at least 30 days’ advance notice of any price increase via the email address associated with your account. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

3. Content and Data

3.1 Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to the paystub files and other content you upload to the Service (“Your Content”). By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process, store, and use Your Content solely to provide and improve the Service.

3.2 File Deletion

By default, original uploaded paystub files are deleted from our storage systems after field extraction is complete. You may modify this setting in your account preferences. Extracted numerical data fields are retained in our database in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

3.3 Accuracy of Extracted Data

The Service uses artificial intelligence to extract data from paystub documents. While we strive for accuracy, extracted fields may contain errors due to document quality, formatting variations, or limitations of the extraction technology. You are responsible for reviewing all extracted fields and correcting any inaccuracies before generating a report.

3.4 Prohibited Content

You may not upload content that infringes any third party’s intellectual property rights, violates any law, contains personally identifiable information of others without authorization, or includes malicious code of any kind.

4. Disclaimer — Not Financial or Tax Advice

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATIONAL AND ESTIMATION PURPOSES ONLY. ALL OUTPUTS, INCLUDING INCOME PROJECTIONS, TAX ESTIMATES, AND RELATED CALCULATIONS, ARE ESTIMATES BASED SOLELY ON DATA EXTRACTED FROM YOUR UPLOADED PAYSTUB AND DO NOT CONSTITUTE FINANCIAL, TAX, INVESTMENT, ACCOUNTING, OR LEGAL ADVICE.

StubVision does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any output for any particular purpose. Actual annual income, tax liability, and take-home pay may differ materially from projections due to factors including but not limited to mid-year salary changes, additional income sources, employer benefit changes, state-specific tax rules not reflected in withholding, and changes in tax law. You should consult a qualified tax professional, financial advisor, or accountant before making any financial decision based on information provided by the Service.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, logos, and all other content created by StubVision, is owned by or licensed to StubVision LLC and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or brand features without our prior written consent.

6. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services including Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payment processing), Anthropic (AI-powered data extraction), and Vercel (hosting). Your use of these integrated services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services.

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

8.1 No Warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR THAT ANY ERRORS WILL BE CORRECTED.

8.2 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, STUBVISION LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND LICENSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL FEES PAID BY YOU TO US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless StubVision LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party right.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at our sole discretion, with or without notice, for any reason, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — shall survive.

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it through your account settings or by contacting us at hello@stubvision.com.

11. Modifications to the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by displaying a notice within the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, except that either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent unauthorized use of intellectual property or for emergency relief. YOU AND STUBVISION AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION.

13. General Provisions

13.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

13.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

13.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that right or provision.

13.4 Assignment

You may not assign these Terms or your rights hereunder without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets.
